What is Sarking?
Sarking is a layer of aluminium laminated to plastic with a flame retardant adhesive. Sarking is an insulation barrier optionally installed under roof battens, although is mandatory in bush fire prone areas. Sarking can also be used on low pitch roofs for weather proofing to eliminate splash back.
Sarking is an insulation barrier which reflects 95% of radiant heat, keeping you cooler in the summer and warmer in winter.
Sarking can only be installed during construction or re roofing when your roof space is accessible. Sarking is optional of new roofs/extensions however it is mandatory in bush fire prone areas due to its fire retardant. It provides ongoing protection against the elements such as burning embers and radiant heat generated by bushfires.
Sarking can also be installed for weather proofing on low pitched roofs to eliminate splashbacks.
At Raving Roofing we use only heavy duty sarking which the highest grade of foil available.
